Lessons & Shows at Foxberry Farm

At Foxberry Equestrian Farm, our mission is to teach riders of all levels in a fun, safe & relaxed environment.  Our instructors focus on building skills to create confident, happy riders who are comfortable around horses, both in the saddle and on the ground.  We believe that horse management is just as important as learning to ride.  Our students learn all about the proper care, nutrition and basic veterinary practices involved in riding and owning horses.

In addition to our resident instructors, we welcome weekly dressage trainer Chris Erbskorn and eventing trainer Lee Ann Gilson.

Foxberry also offers clinics throughout the year, featuring local & nationally recognized instructors who specialize in various fields of horseback riding and instruction.  Check our Upcoming Events tab often, as we are always updating our calendar.

Our Trainers

Kim Abernathy

Kim is the Owner & Head Trainer at Foxberry Farm.  She has been a lifelong equestrian and riding instructor for over 20 years.  She specializes in bringing up the beginner through the more advanced levels in all 3 phases of eventing.  Her students especially love how she makes everyone feel welcome & just like family.  Kim teaches Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday - offering both private & group lessons.

Alison Cochran

Alison began riding at the age of 6 and has been competing since 1979.  She has a lifetime of experience in hunters/jumpers/equitation and dressage.  She has been a professional riding coach and trainer since 1995.  She loves sharing her knowledge and passion with riders of all levels.  Alison teaches at Foxberry on Monday and Friday.

Brooke Thomason

Brooke learned to ride at a young age and spent her formative years at Foxberry Farm.  She is now a Vet Tech at Brookstone Animal Hospital, but still finds time to teach private riding lessons on Wednesdays.  Her speciality is teaching beginners.

In-House Shows

Foxberry Equestrian Farm offers in-house barn shows several times a year.  These shows allow each and every one of our students to enjoy the experience and competition of showing.  Riders' points accumulate throughout the show season towards end-of-year championship prizes.

Outside Shows

Aside from our in-house show program, we take students who are ready and willing to competitions outside of our facility at various farms and competition sites.  When our students are ready, we also encourage them to ride in clinics with outside instructors.  This helps them to grow and become more independent and accomplished riders.

Lesson Rates

1/2 hour private lesson - $50

1 hour group lesson - $50

Lease Options

We are pleased to offer several lesson horses for a "1/2 lease option" for only $190/month.  This is a fantastic way for riders to experience some of the joys of horse ownership without worry about the financial obligations.  Horses are available for lease on a first-come, first-serve basis; giving riders the opportunity to ride on 2 additional days outside of their normal lesson day.

Be sure to ask about other horses that may be available on either full or 1/2 lease through our boarders.
